UK broker CSV export & compatibility guide

How to export your transaction history from major UK investment platforms and import it directly into Omnicogi without sharing broker passwords.

Omnicogi uses a zero-credential architecture. Instead of asking for your bank passwords or using invasive Open Banking scrapers that break constantly, Omnicogi ingests official transaction CSV files generated directly by your broker.

Data Sovereignty First: Your broker login details, 2FA codes, and bank security credentials remain strictly private. Exporting a CSV file gives you complete control over what data enters the analysis engine.

1. Step-by-step export instructions by broker

Interactive Investor and Fidelity International have a purpose-built parser that reads their export format directly. Every other broker below imports through Omnicogi's generic column-matcher, which recognises common CSV headers automatically — it works today, it's just not broker-specific yet.

Interactive Investor (ii) Native Launch Support

How to download your transaction history:

  1. Log in to your Interactive Investor desktop account.
  2. Navigate to Portfolio and select the relevant account (Trading Account, ISA, or SIPP).
  3. Click on History & Transactions.
  4. Select your date range (e.g. All available history or Custom date range).
  5. Click the Download / Export icon at the top right of the table and choose CSV.

Tip: II exports include full transaction types (Buys, Sells, Dividends, Corporate Actions, and Monthly Fees). Omnicogi parses and classifies all rows automatically.

Fidelity International (UK) Native Launch Support

How to download your transaction history:

  1. Log in to your Fidelity UK online account.
  2. Select your account (ISA, SIPP, or Investment Account).
  3. Go to Transactions & Orders (or Account Activity > History).
  4. Set the date filter to your desired historical range.
  5. Click Download to spreadsheet (CSV) located above the table.

Note on Settlement Dates: Fidelity records both Trade Date and Settlement Date. Omnicogi uses the trade execution date to ensure accurate XIRR and Section 104 cost pooling.

Trading 212 (Invest / ISA) Generic import

How to download your transaction history:

  1. Log in via the web portal or mobile app.
  2. Go to History (bottom right icon or left navigation bar).
  3. Click the Export icon (downward arrow).
  4. Select Custom Period and toggle all fields (Orders, Dividends, Transactions).
  5. The 365-Day Rule: Trading 212 restricts each export batch to a maximum of 365 days. If your trading history spans 3 years, download three separate files (e.g. 2023, 2024, 2025). Omnicogi automatically merges and deduplicates them.
Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) Generic import

  2. Select your Stocks & Shares ISA, SIPP, or Fund & Share Account.
  3. Click on the Transactions tab.

AJ Bell & Vanguard UK Generic import

2. Broker formatting quirks & how Omnicogi resolves them

Broker QuirkThe ProblemHow Omnicogi Handles It
Overlapping CSV Exports Exporting "Last 12 months" every quarter creates duplicate rows. Omnicogi generates cryptographic transaction hashes to deduplicate identical trades automatically.
GBX (Pence) vs GBP (£) LSE stocks quote in pence (e.g. 2450p) while funds quote in pounds (£24.50). Omnicogi normalises all London Stock Exchange pricing units to prevent 100x valuation errors.
Corporate Actions & Ticker Changes A company changes ticker or merges, breaking history. Omnicogi maps trades by unique ISIN and SEDOL identifiers rather than volatile ticker symbols.
Missing Cash Movements Broker CSV logs trades but omits platform custody fees or uninvested interest. Adding a single point-in-time Snapshot immediately detects and reconciles any ledger variance.

3. The Import Diagnostics & Reconciliation workflow

When you drop your CSV into Omnicogi, our calculation engine executes a 4-step pipeline:

Header & Format Detection

Identifies broker template, delimiter, date encoding (DD/MM/YYYY vs YYYY-MM-DD), and currency columns.

Security Resolution

Matches trade descriptions to verified securities via global ISIN/SEDOL directories and market feeds.

Clean Cash & Section 104 Ledger Construction

Separates external deposits from internal reinvestments and builds running average cost pools for CGT.

Snapshot Validation

Cross-references calculated share quantities against your official broker valuation statement.

Important Notice: Omnicogi is a portfolio tracking and data analytics tool, not a registered financial adviser or tax agent. CSV parsing and calculation outputs are provided for personal record-keeping and educational purposes. Always verify calculations against your official broker statements and consult a qualified tax adviser or accountant for tax filing.
