Home Compare Sharesight alternative

A Sharesight alternative built for UK investors

If you are comparing Sharesight with other trackers, the differences that matter most to UK investors are how pricing scales with portfolios, how holding limits work, and how ISA, SIPP and GIA accounts are handled. Omnicogi is built around UK accounts and tax rules, and it never connects to your broker.

The short answer

Omnicogi may suit you better if

  • You hold an ISA, a SIPP and a GIA, and want each one treated by its own tax rules
  • You want Section 104 pooling worked out for your GIA holdings
  • You would rather upload CSVs than connect a broker account
  • You want property, cash and debt next to your shares, in one net worth figure

Sharesight may suit you better if

  • You want trades to arrive automatically from your broker
  • You invest across many countries and need their tax reports
  • You share your portfolio with an accountant through the app
  • You need a finished product today rather than a closed beta

What to weigh up

The points UK investors most often compare when choosing between the two, with how each product handles them today.

Pricing as you add portfolios

Sharesight: Paid plans are priced per portfolio, so the total cost rises with each portfolio you track. Paying annually is cheaper than paying monthly.

Omnicogi: One Premium plan is planned to cover every portfolio and holding. There is no checkout yet, so everything that is switched on is free during the beta. The planned £4.99 a month is an intention rather than a fixed price, and you would get notice before anything changed.

Holding limits

Sharesight: The free plan covers up to 10 holdings, and holdings that have been sold still count toward that limit.

Omnicogi: The planned free plan covers 15 holdings in one portfolio, and sold holdings count here as well. Premium has no holdings limit, and no limits apply during the beta.

ISA, SIPP and GIA accounts

Sharesight: Portfolios can be labelled by account type. If you hold tax-free and taxable accounts, it is worth checking how each is treated in the capital gains figures for your setup.

Omnicogi: Each wrapper is tracked separately, and Section 104 pooling is applied to GIA holdings, where capital gains tax can be due. ISA allowance tracking is live; SIPP allowance tracking is coming soon.

Capital gains reporting

Sharesight: The capital gains report is included in paid plans.

Omnicogi: Section 104 pooled costs and gains are included for every account during the beta. Downloadable CGT exports are built and coming soon.

Where Omnicogi is different

UK tax wrappers and Section 104

Gains inside an ISA or a SIPP are free of capital gains tax. Gains in a GIA are not. A tracker therefore needs to keep the two apart when it works out your capital gains.

Omnicogi tracks each wrapper separately and works out Section 104 pooled costs for GIA holdings. See ISA tracking and how Section 104 works.

What your money actually earned

A portfolio total rises every time you pay in, which makes it a poor measure of performance. Omnicogi keeps Clean Cash (the money you deposited) apart from Generated Wealth (the gains and dividends it produced), and reports a daily-weighted XIRR that accounts for when each deposit went in.

More in Clean Cash and XIRR vs TWR.

Your whole net worth

For most UK households, the home and the savings accounts are worth more than the share portfolio. Omnicogi tracks property (with the mortgage, LTV and rental yield), cash accounts and debts beside your investments, and projects when the lot could fund early retirement.

No connection to your broker

Omnicogi has no broker integrations and no Open Banking. You export a CSV from your broker and upload it. That takes a minute more than an automatic feed, and it means Omnicogi never holds a login, token or link to your accounts. The reasoning is in why we use CSVs instead of bank logins.

Where Sharesight is stronger

  • Trades can arrive automatically from supported brokers or forwarded confirmation emails, so there is less to upload.
  • It covers exchanges and currencies worldwide, and produces tax reports for several countries.
  • It has been running for years, with accountant and adviser sharing built in.
  • It is open to everyone now, where Omnicogi still needs an invite code.

Moving over from Sharesight

Export the transaction history from each of your brokers as CSV and upload those files to Omnicogi. Interactive Investor and Fidelity International files are parsed natively, and other brokers go through automatic column matching. The broker guides show where each export lives. If you would like to bring a Sharesight export across directly, mention Sharesight on the waitlist form so we know to look at it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free Sharesight alternative in the UK?

Omnicogi is free while it is in beta: every feature that is switched on is available to every account. When paid plans arrive, the free plan is planned to cover one portfolio with up to 15 holdings, and Premium is planned at £4.99 a month.

How does Sharesight's pricing work for UK investors?

Sharesight prices its paid plans per portfolio, and its free plan covers up to 10 holdings, including ones that have been sold. Investors with several accounts, such as an ISA, a SIPP and a GIA, may find they need a paid plan. Omnicogi plans one Premium price covering unlimited portfolios and holdings, and it is free while in beta.

Does Sharesight count sold shares toward its holdings limit?

Yes. Sharesight counts every security a portfolio has held, including ones you have sold. Omnicogi's planned free plan counts sold holdings too, but Premium has no holdings limit at all.

What is the cheapest Sharesight alternative in the UK?

Omnicogi is free while it is in beta, and Premium is planned at £4.99 a month for unlimited portfolios. Free open-source desktop trackers also exist, but they generally do not apply UK rules such as Section 104 pooling or separate ISA, SIPP and GIA treatment.

Does Omnicogi treat ISA and SIPP gains differently from a GIA?

Yes. Each wrapper is tracked on its own, and Section 104 pooling is applied to GIA holdings, where capital gains tax can be due. ISA allowance tracking is live; SIPP allowance tracking and CGT exports are coming soon.

Does Omnicogi need my broker login?

No. Omnicogi never asks for broker passwords and has no Open Banking connection. You export a CSV from your broker and upload it.

Can I move my history over from Sharesight?

The dependable route is to export the original transaction CSVs from each broker and upload those. See the broker guides and the CSV import guide. If you would like to import a Sharesight export directly, mention Sharesight when you join the waitlist and we will look at supporting it.

Can I use Omnicogi today?

The web app is live at app.omnicogi.com as a closed beta. You need an invite code to get past sign-up. Join the waitlist and we send codes out in batches.
